Census 2016 – Top 10 Electoral Divisions for Population Growth
FAC is examining population growth in Ireland over the past ten years, following on from the release of preliminary data from Census 2016.
Last month’s census figures released by the Central Statistics Office showed that the population of the State has has grown to 4,757,976. This is an increase of +12%, or 518,128 since 2006.
The majority of the growth has taken place in urban areas, with 10.2% in just 10 Electoral Divisions (ED). Seven of these were in the Dublin region with the remaining three within commuting distance of the capital.
